01:35:12
Thank you for that suggestion Dr. Fife!
Nelson Stone
01:36:53
Caitlyn, how problematic is it that we portray victims of illness as losing a war. Generally, I think that our society honors and memorializes fallen soldiers. The dead are rarely blamed for losing the war.
Caitlyn Woitena
01:39:46
Hey Nelson! I agree. I personally understand why war metaphors are employed but I wish the narrative would move towards a more empowering tone. I appreciate your input and think your last line is a really interesting thought. We don’’t characterize fallen soldiers as losers but rather “those lost”. Love that thought thank you for sharing.
Alison Langdon (she/her/hers)
01:41:14
Thank you so much, everyone, for these wonderful presentations! I hate to miss the rest.
Trish Jaggers
01:41:26
An interesting project would be to explore what the need to employ a "war" (or other) metaphor says about our society & our ability/inability to empathize.
